Wisteria

‘Wisteria’ by Swathi Jeeda (@swathi.jeeda)

find me at the riverbed
ankles drowned in silt
palms open
offering

ribs bent forward
petals to rain
weak to the storm
starving

greedy for the blue silk
with ability to shape
waiting for citrus rot
to rust into sugar

colorless crystals
tessellate marrow
brine swells
slipping through licked lips

soft suffocating
syrup of decay
violet hands
would rather
be torn than curl
